AMAZONSYNC / PRIME VIDEO PROOF OF CONCEPT

Start with the
actual Prime player.

Testing an installation-free path toward a KnotFin plugin.

This is a playback inspection step, not working synchronization yet.

Amazon handles your login and video playback. This probe reads only timing from the existing player. It sends nothing and changes no playback controls.

Inspect your playing stream

The bookmarks bar is the row of saved website links just below your browser’s address bar. In Chrome on a Mac, press ⌘ + Shift + B to show it. In Chrome on Windows or Linux, press Ctrl + Shift + B.

  1. Drag loading probe… to that bookmarks bar: click and hold the link, move it onto the bar, then release. This saves a small tool called a bookmarklet.
  2. Open Prime Video directly, sign in while unshared, and start the stream.
  3. Switch to the tab where your Amazon stream is playing, then click Inspect Prime player in your bookmarks bar. A timing panel appears for 90 seconds.
  4. If sharing through Tabshare, share the player tab afterward. Only the probe panel needs inspection.

Connect the player

Save this new bookmark the same way: drag loading connection… to your bookmarks bar. Then click it on your playing Amazon tab. It opens an AmazonSync companion tab and sends only playback timing to that window.

Keep both tabs open. You can share the companion tab using Tabshare in your usual browser toolbar. Creating a room publishes timing to the room service; joining reads the host’s timing. This step compares clocks; it does not change playback or skip ads.

What this establishes

Whether a bookmarklet can run on your browser and read the player’s time, seekable ranges, and DRM attachment status. It does not identify the stream protocol, read licenses or prove that two streams can be synchronized.

If no panel appears, report that result. Do not disable browser protections. A companion-window connection and playback-control test would be separate next steps.

Waiting for your Prime player…

No timing received.

Compare with another viewer

Both viewers must be watching the same stream. Raw player times can have different starting points; their difference alone does not establish synchronization.

Read-only connection. No credentials, video URLs or playback controls. Connection expires after 10 minutes; click the bookmark again to reconnect.
